Dallas Citizens' Academy

Dallas Citizens' Academy Overview

The City has been offering the Dallas Citizens' Academy since the spring of 2015. We are now accepting applications for a future session.

The Citizens' Academy is free for participants, and is an opportunity to learn about the functions and services of the city government with fellow members of the Dallas community.

For new residents of Dallas, the Academy is a great way to become familiar with the services provided by the city and to meet the staff responsible for providing them. If you are a long-time resident of Dallas, the Academy will give you a fresh perspective on the current issues facing the city. For those who are interested in getting more engaged with the community, the Academy will teach you about volunteer and leadership opportunities.

The sessions are fun and interactive, and will be led by Dallas city staff.

Each class session will focus on a different topic, which will include: leisure activities, public safety, capital projects and infrastructure, community development and planning, budgeting and finance, and more.

The scheduled below is just a sample schedule.  An actual schedule will be determined once enough applications are received for a new class.  Subsequent classes are scheduled every other week, for a total of 6 classes (plus graduation).
