The Records Section provides vehicle releases for vehicles that have been impounded based on city and state statutes for vehicle impound. Release times are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Vehicles are released to the registered owner only. Vehicles will not be released without the authorized release from the Dallas Police Department. Proof of insurance, a valid driver with license, and a picture ID must be presented to the Records staff at the time of release. An administrative fee of $100 is required at the time of release. Only cash, credit, or debit cards are accepted (no checks are accepted). Impounded vehicles are towed to:

Dallas Towing currently charges a $125 tow fee and $35 per day impound fee beginning the day the vehicle was towed. These fees are set by Dallas Towing and are subject to change.
