Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
Responsibilities & Services
The City of Dallas Emergency Medical Services (EMS) System provides advanced life support services 24 hours a day. The system is designed to provide critical care on scene as well as providing critical care inter-facility transfers.
The EMS system is a community-based volunteer, career and EMT training program managed by the
Fire Department Administrative Team. This program allows community members to participate as a medical provider with the medical services, or gain experience and become marketable and compete for full-time positions.
Dallas FireMed
FireMed is a statewide subscription ambulance service provided through city governments or local fire districts. Members who require emergency medical transportation, or medically necessary hospital-to-hospital transportation, will have their insurance payment forwarded directly to the City of Dallas as payment in full. The annual open enrollment period runs from September 1 through October 31.
