Who May Apply For a Library Card?
The Dallas Public Library invites all ages to get a library card. Whether you reside within the city limits or outside the city limits, you are eligible to receive a library card.
How do you get a library card?
Library Card Applications are available at the library. You will also need to bring picture ID such as your driver's license, and proof of your address. If your picture ID has your current address, that is all you need. If it does not, please bring a current utility bill, voter registration, rental/lease agreement, or printed checks with your address.
Types of Library Cards Available
Free Resident Card
Patrons who reside within the Dallas city limits
Adult cards check out up to 50 items
Child and Young Adult cards check out up to 25 items
Free Non-Resident Card
Patrons who reside outside the city limits of Dallas
Adult cards check out 10 item at a time
Child C.A.R.E cards check out up to 25 children and young adult items
Free Property Tax ID Card
Patrons who own property within the Dallas city limits
Same privileges as residents,
Must bring in property tax statement yearly
Non-Resident Fee Card
Patrons who reside outside the city limits, with resident privileges
$60 for 1 year, per household, payable in $20 increments
